SUMMARY:Adult Education Program: Film and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:(Adult Education Event)\nScenes from the Divide (In Person Film Screening and Discussion) \n\n\nIn the lead-up to Zohran Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York City\, many of the city’s Jewish leadership\, as well as pundits and politicians\, worked overtime arguing that the candidate’s history of support for Palestine represented a threat to Jews. By inviting viewers into the homes of New Yorkers on both sides of the campaign\, Scenes from the Divide unsettles this familiar story. Rather than a controversy over a particular election or candidate\, the film reveals a fierce battle among American Jews over identity\, history\, and responsibility. Scenes from the Divide explores the story behind the story\, uncovering a fraught struggle within a rapidly transforming community. Watch the trailer here. \n\nThis is a free program. Refreshments will be provided. Family and friends welcome! \n\nPlease email the Program Planning Committee (Claudia Farber\, Joyce Orenstein & Judy Stern) with your suggestions for speakers and/or programs\, or to join our Committee and help plan our upcoming events!
