These groups have a great influence on the text books and curriculum in our schools. With our children falling behind the rest of the world in science and math\, this is not a trivial issue. What is evolution\, what is the controversy\, why not teach other theories\, why does Texas hold such influence over what is written in our text books? \n\nJeremy Freedman has been a high school science teacher for the past 28 years and has had to face these issues directly. First issued around 1870 in Europe and the United States\, they were not only a popular means of inexpensive communication but also collected and traded. Postcards with Jewish themes and images were printed in many countries\, including the U.S.\, Germany\, and Poland\, and often featured holiday greetings written in Yiddish and English. They covered a wide range of Jewish topics\, from Jewish festivals\, shops\, synagogues\, cemeteries\, and shtetl life\, to Yiddish writers\, views of Palestine\, actors and actresses of the Yiddish theatre\, and much more. \nYou are cordially invited to learn about Judy Rosenthal’s Jewish postcard collection and take a close look at the images\, which will be displayed via a Power Point presentation.
