What inner strength and sense of ethics did they possess to have aided and/or saved not only individual lives\, but also the preservation of conscience and morality\, which are essential human traits. Why when countless others did nothing did they act? Why did they save “humanity” when others were committing government sanctioned “crimes against humanity” A variety of people and groups will be discussed in this presentation to include Raul Waldenburg\, Oscar Schindler\, King Cristian of Denmark and the ordinary citizens of Denmark. To do that\, he will review the original biblical terms for law\, justice\, judgment and the later rabbincal term: tikkun olam. \nRon states that “The laws in the Torah are very simple and the system to work with them was very simple too. However\, thousands of years of rabbinical tinkering resulted in the laws being understood and applied in a way that may differ from the original intent of those laws. The idea that people should feel responsible for preventing poverty and suffering is discussed in this book but\, as Singer says\, is not in itself a controversial notion. Singer goes much farther in this book\, moving from the more familiar argument to the claim that most of us have only scratched the surface of giving and can and should find ways to give more. \n\nThis short\, readable book is available from Amazon for a very reasonable price.
