DESCRIPTION:(Adult Education) \nThe Dead Sea Scrolls\n(A presentation by Professor Azzin Yadin-Israel) \nOur speaker Azzin Yadin-Israel is Director of Undergraduate Studies and Professor in the Department of Jewish Studies and Classics at Rutgers University. He teaches an undergraduate course on the Dead Sea Scrolls\, which have profoundly enhanced our understanding of Jewish sects of the Second Temple period\, the origins of Christianity\, and the rise of Rabbinic Judaism. The talk is open to the public; non-members of the I.L. Peretz Secular Jewish Community are asked for a $5 donation to cover program costs. Pans\, pre-risen dough\, and all ingredients will be provided by the hosts. The kids will come and prepare the distinctively rolled and rich bread. As the bread is left to rise for a second time\, the kids will help plan the itinerary for their upcoming trip to the Lower East Side based on the interests they express. The kids will then take their breads home to bake\, filling homes with the sweet scent of this yeasty confection.
