The holiday of Lag B’Omer commemorates this time. Today\, Lag B’Omer is celebrated with picnics\, sporting events\, hikes\, and bon fires. Please join us for our Lag B’Omer celebration at Peretz. DESCRIPTION:(Adult Education) \nJerusalem: Holy – and Wholly Complex\n(A presentation by history professor Chris Bellito of Kean University) \nDr. Bellitto is a historian\, frequent public lecturer\, and author of 10 books (e. g.\, “Ageless Wisdom: Lifetime Lessons from the Bible\,” 2016). He will explore why Jerusalem can be thought of as a city of both joy and sorrow and what it means to be at the intersection of Judaism\, Christianity\, and Islam. Jerusalem\, one of the oldest cities in the world\, allows a look at the past and the present simultaneously from the perspective of thousands of years of a rich and complex history. This lecture is sponsored by the N. J. Council for the Humanities. \nFree for members; a $5 donation is requested from non-members to cover event costs. Refreshments will be served. \nThe IL Peretz Secular Jewish Community’s Adult Education Programs educate our members in engaging ways about Jewish heritage and the world around us.

DESCRIPTION:Closing Ceremony & Graduation \nGraduation is a significant milestone in the lives of IL Peretz school students. If you’ve never been to a graduation\, you will be shocked at how much you learn from the graduates as they present their research projects. Please come to support our graduates. The ceremony starts at 11:00 AM at Rutgers Prep in the Barn Room. All students should arrive at the normal 9:30 start time. \nThe Barn Room is the last one on the right at the end of the building if one walks in through the front hallway. If one enters from the other side\, it will be the first room on the left. (We’re using that room to allow wheelchair access.)
