SUMMARY:Sunday-Morning Program: Bar/Bat Mitzvah
DESCRIPTION:(Family Education) \nIL Peretz Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations\n(a presentation by board members Rob Pestka\, Alex Jodidio\, former parent and community musician Danny Alderman) \nFor the past 20+ years\, Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s at IL Peretz have been organized and led by parents. They can be big at a venue with 100+ people\, or at a much smaller one in a private home with a family gathering\, or anywhere in between. Some include traditional reading from a Torah and others do not. Presenters will discuss their experiences with preparing and running ceremonies/celebrations for their children and will be glad to answer any questions. \nYou can find a substantial number of programs prepared by parents on our website. Click on “Members Only” on the home page at the top right\, then under “General” heading\, click on “Bar and Bat Mitzvah Programs”. Each program can be downloaded as a PDF file. \nAccess to the “Members Only” part of the website requires a password. If you do not know it\, please email Alex Jodidio. \nThere are even more ceremonies available in 2 big books at Rutgers Prep. Please sign one out if you take one home and bring it back in a couple of weeks so that other parents can use them.

SUMMARY:Sunday-Morning Program: Immigration Laws
DESCRIPTION:(Family Education) \nHistory of US Immigration Laws And How We Got To Where We Are Today \n(a presentation by immigration lawyer Ana Yngelmo) \nMs. Yngelmo will give a brief overview of the history of our immigration laws\, and how we got to where we are today. The major differences between the immigration policies of previous administrations and the current administration\, both internally and at the border\, will be discussed. She will answer the most frequently asked questions about this issue: “Why don’t they get in line and do it the right way like everyone else?” and “Why didn’t they apply for lawful status after being here for so many years?” \nAna is a licensed NJ attorney who dedicates her practice exclusively to immigration law. Her interest in immigration law grew from her own family’s experience. Born in Cuba\, her family immigrated to the US when she was a child. She grew up in Elizabeth\, attended public schools all her life\, and graduated high school at the top of her class. She obtained her undergrad degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and attended Seton Hall Law in Newark where she took advantage of every opportunity to expand her knowledge of immigration law and gain practical experience in the immigration field. She interned at the Immigration Court\, worked at the Immigrant Rights Clinic\, and just two years after graduating from law school\, she opened up her own practice which is now located in Elizabeth.
