Be sure to dress for the weather\, bring folding chairs if you have them\, and don’t forget your masks. \nOn Sunday\, November 8\, at 5:30 pm\, we’ll be screening Asia at the Pestka’s Backyard Theatre\, 2 Elbert Court in Highland Park. Adults and teens are welcome! Tickets and a Tacoria dinner will be provided by Peretz\, with only a $10 contribution per person. Please RSVP to Rob Pestka. \nAsia.  Shira Haas (Unorthodox\, Shtisel) stars in this emotionally powerful drama about Asia and Vika\, Russian immigrants to Israel who are more like sisters than mother and daughter. Young mom Asia hides nothing about her work-hard\, play-hard lifestyle\, and expects the same openness and honesty from her teenage daughter. But Vika inevitably begins to rebel\, seeking privacy and independence\, all while experiencing the onset of a debilitating degenerative disease that makes her increasingly dependent. Please RSVP to Rob Pestka. \nBreaking Bread.  Exotic cuisine and a side of politics are on the menu in this delightful and inspiring documentary. Dr. Nof Atamna-Ismaeel is on a quest to effect social change through food. The first Muslim Arab to win Israel’s MasterChef\, she founded the A-sham Food Festival in Haifa where Arab and Jewish chefs collaborate on local dishes. The Peretz Planning Committee selected two films for an online discussion: \nNowhere in Africa. Q&A with Caroline Link\, Sunday\, Nov. 15\, Noon.\nAsia. Q&A with Ruthy Prabar\, Director\, and Natasha Zaretsky\, NYU scholar\, on Wed.\, Nov. 18th\, 1:00 PM. This film co-stars the amazing Shira Haas\, who you may know from Shtisl and Unorthodox\, both available on Netflix. \nWe selected Sunday\, Nov. 22nd\, at 3:00 PM for our community discussion that will be conducted online via GoogleMeet. As this date is at the end of the festival\, there may be time and interest to discuss other notable films as well. Please RSVP  to Judy Stern to receive the GoogleMeet link. If you have not yet participated in a virtual meeting and have questions\, please contact Claudia Farber\, who is hosting the meeting. \nGo to the Bildner Center website to purchase tickets and to learn how to view films and Q&As.
